Projects for grieving people
Suffering opens our hearts to the suffering of others around us. We feel the pain and injustice. Giving to help others with their struggles is rewarding, almost as though someone gave to us ourselves. It restores a personal sense of value and meaning to our lives when we can contribute and support others. We feel better, and stand taller. We often discover kindness coming back to us. Look around and see if there are meaningful projects that would be gratifying to invest in. However, also guard your strength too since grief takes a lot of energy.
If you need a little help in finding a project please consider Wellspring Academy in Rwanda, my personal favorite! This was the school where my son Ben poured his energies. This school is not only raising up young leaders to rebuild and heal a nation devastated by genocide but working with the Rwanda Ministry of Education to teach reconciliation. The day he died they just completed a playground for the kids and they named it Ben's Boathouse in his honor.
Why Wellspring ACADEMY?
Rebuild a Nation by educating a child
In 2004, the idea of a school to transform Rwanda was born in the hearts of three university friends: Richard and Jeff. They immediately invited Ben to be on their Board and he poured hours into setting up everything that was computer related - his expertise. He also went to Rwanda and lived at Wellspring Academy in Kigali, Rwanda, using his computer science degree to set up technology systems in the third world. He also poured concrete for school rooms and played soccer with the students. In addition, he helped to create a documentary, Hope Rises about rebuilding Rwanda through education. Months later, while home in Vancouver, at the age of 25, he was the innocent victim of a car crash and was killed. Ben was my amazing gifted son. Today Wellspring Academy, Rwanda, is building over 900 future leaders and is empowering an entire nation to heal. Part of every dollar of Helga Bender Coaching supports Wellspring. Please join us in Ben's lasting legacy and donate directly to Wellspring Foundation to help change a nation.
